Today I will show you how to compress your website files and directories and how to download them on your PC, the cPanel version.

Step 1 – Locate your website directory

The quickest approach to access your website directory in cPanel is to navigate to cPanel -> Domains. Here you will find all your domains along with their directory.

From this picture, we notice that the directory for the domain example.com is public_html, simply click on “/public html” and cPanel will take you straight to your domain directory.

Step 2 – Show Hidden Files

Because cPanel by default does not display dotfiles, such as the .htacess file, we must go to Settings in the right corner and choose “Show Hidden Files.”

Scroll down and choose the name of your archive

Depending on how many files and folders your website has, this process may take some time. Following this procedure, you should be able to locate your archive in your website’s directory.

Step 4 – Download your website archive to your PC

In your website directory, you should be able to locate your archive, if not, you need to use the Reload function from the menu. Right-click on the archive and Download it.
