Use secure password<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Insecure passwords are the most common security vulnerability.<\/p>\n

> Use minimum 8 character passwords with alphanumeric ,grammatical symbols, etc<\/p>\n

Never use a significant date and dictionary words.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u2022Secure SSH Move SSH access to a different port to deter anyone without specific knowledge of your server from easy discovery of your SSH port<\/p>\n

> Always use SSHv2 only SSHv1 is not secure<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Secure Apache<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 The most readily available way to access a web server is the webserver application you must secure your apache installation<\/p>\n

>> You must secure your Apache installation<\/p>\n

Turn off unused services<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Any servers that allows connections to your server may also allow hackers to gain access.<\/p>\n

\u2022 To reduce risks disable all services that you don’t use.<\/p>\n

Enable a firewall<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Install a firewall to limit access to your server or remove all unused software on your system<\/p>\n

\u2022 Set a crone job to disable your firewall every 5 minutes when you test your rules or you may be locked out of your server<\/p>\n

Stay up to date<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Be aware of update the following<\/p>\n

> Kernel<\/p>\n

>Cpanel & WHM<\/p>\n

> User applications (Bulletin boards, CMS, blog engines etc.)<\/p>\n
