class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>rdiff-backup-statistics is a command-line tool that creates summaries of session_statistics files.\u00a0These statistics are helpful if the backup directory grows for unknown reasons.\u00a0When analyzing which files caused the increase, rdiff-backup-statistics is helpful:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If it is a new file, look for\u00a0<b>Top directories by source size<\/b><\/li>\n<li>If it is a file that has changed a lot, look for\u00a0<b>Top directories by increment size<\/b><\/li>\n<li>For a directory where a lot of files have changed, look for\u00a0<b>Top directories by number of files changed<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>rdiff-backup-statistics also supports the restriction to periods, so you only get statistics about the last month or the last day:<\/p>\n<pre>$ rdiff-backup-statistics --begin-time 1M backup \/\r\n$ rdiff-backup-statistics --begin-time 1D backup \/\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>rdiff-backup-statistics then ignores those sessions_statistics that are older than 1 month or 1 day.\u00a0Which time formats are supported can be found\u00a0<code>man rdiff-backup<\/code>under the section\u00a0<code>TIME FORMATS<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Attention:<\/b>\u00a0The values under\u00a0<i>Average<\/i>\u00a0always show the average over all session statistics.<\/p>\n<pre>$ rdiff-backup-statistics backup
