With the “Wine” tool you can use Windows programs under Ubuntu.\u00a0The freeware is free and is constantly developed further.\u00a0Several million users already use the tool.\u00a0We will show you how the program works.<\/p>\n

The change from XP or another Windows to Ubuntu can fail on many things, but certainly not on non-running software.\u00a0The fact that a program does not work is rare.\u00a0We’ll show you how to run programs without native Ubuntu versions in this article.<\/p>\n

“Wine” (Wine is not an emulator) makes all sorts of original Windows functions available on\u00a0Linux\u00a0\u00a0– in a\u00a0simple way,\u00a0by simulating DLL files and forwarding calls to programs.\u00a0The technical background does not have to be of interest to you, however, the following is important:\u00a0On the official website you<\/a>\u00a0will find a list of programs that can be used with Wine – divided into platinum, gold, silver and other titles.\u00a0Depending on how well and smooth the operation is.\u00a0Overall, there are 21,133 products – including many games like\u00a0World of Warcraft\u00a0,\u00a0Left 4 Dead\u00a0,\u00a0The Sims 3\u00a0\u00a0and many Adobe tools like\u00a0Photoshop\u00a0.<\/p>\n

This is how it works<\/h3>\n

First install Wine or Synaptic from the software center, the app store, from Ubuntu.\u00a0The search for wine also produces more hits: for example a graphical interface for the configuration – usually you need this however not.<\/p>\n

Then\u00a0\u00a0download\u00a0a Windows program such as\u00a0\u00a0“Mp3Tag”\u00a0, which is very good and most Ubuntu alternatives are striking lengths.\u00a0Start the EXE file from the context menu.<\/p>\n

Simply install the installation routine straight away – including the installation under “C: \/ Program Files \/ …”, since Wine simulates the Windows folder structure.\u00a0Then, start the Windows tool directly from the created shortcut on the desktop.<\/p>\n
